CM Excursion : FONTAINEBLEAU

FONTAINEBLEAU

A journey in beauty and refinement

After a morning spent in the forest and at the château of Fontainebleau, places cherished by many royal and imperial generations, we will stop at an inn in Barbizon before discovering the château of Vaux le Vicomte in the afternoon.

Anecdote: In Fontainebleau, on the famous horseshoe staircase, Napoleon bade farewell to his Guard.

Between 1849 and 1875, Barbizon welcomed about sixty landscape painters (Corot, Millet, etc.) who painted the walls and furniture of the inns to pay for their stay.
The splendours of the Château de Vaux le Vicomte offended Louis XIV and provoked his anger. Its owner Fouquet was banished from the castle.
